Make it stand out
National Suicide Prevention Week with World Suicide Prevention Day
Tomorrow marks the beginning of National Suicide Prevention Week, culminating in World Suicide Prevention Day—a sacred reminder of our collective responsibility to hold space for one another’s pain and hope. During this time, let us awaken to the truth that each of us holds the power to transform darkness into light. We can do this by moving beyond judgment, opening hearts with honest dialogue, and allowing loved ones who are struggling to express their true feelings. Speak love into their spirits—remind them of their divine worth, for we are energy beings capable of alchemizing sadness into joy, anger into peace, and fear into love. Yet, words alone may not suffice. Be sure to gently guide those in need toward the support systems that offer professional help—channels of healing that can anchor them in hope.
Suicide is a deeply personal and sacred topic for me. In my early teens, my beloved eldest sister, the life of every gathering, chose to leave this earthly realm. I adored her, and it wasn’t until it was too late that my family recognized her silent suffering—warning signs she had shared in whispers: thoughts of wanting to die, feelings of hopelessness, withdrawal, and loneliness. When I received the news, I wondered if love and words of affirmation might have changed her course. Perhaps if I had told her how much she mattered, she would have reconsidered. Or if she had sought help, she might still be here. I hold no certainty, only the sacred truth that life is both wondrous and cruel—moments of divine beauty intertwined with pain that tests the soul’s resilience. From these dualities, I have learned to channel energy into creating songs and poetry—art that heals and awakens the spirit.
Now, I offer these creations freely to the world, in the hope that they serve as a gentle reminder: we are all part of this cosmic dance, and each one of us matters. We have not crashed this divine party by accident—we are here because our presence is sacred. So, I invite you to sing with me: Dying Is Fine, Just Not Today. During Suicide Prevention Week, from September 10 to 16, 2023, I offer this song as a gift—free of charge—hoping it echoes in the hearts of those who need to hear that they are loved, valued, and part of something infinitely greater.
